Year 3

Welcome to Year 3! The supporting adults in our class are Mr Aluko and Mrs Chan. This half-term the children his half term, our topic is Meet the Flintstones where we will look at the Stone, Bronze and Iron Ages. We will be focusing on writing instructions and a balanced argument. In Maths, we are currently learning about fractions before moving onto mass and capacity. In Science, we’ve been learning about Rocks where the children have been working scientifically to observe rocks, including those used in buildings, and exploring how and why they might have changed over time.

See what we’ve been up to

  • This week we have participated in a range of activities. In P.E, we have been focusing on OAA (Outdoor Adventurous Activities) where we are encouraged to draw upon our mental as well as physical skills including leadership, critical thinking, and problem-solving.
  • We have also have been taking part in workshops with The Institution of Imagination. We have delved into how the science of nature can inspire us to imagine creatives sustainable solutions when designing architecture and inventions for the cities and communities we live in.
  • In English, we’ve been immersing ourselves in the story of The BFG through role-play. We’ve acted out the opening scene, read the book, and started crafting our own narratives.

As part of our mission to become sustainability champions, the children went to King Henry’s Garden Walk to learn about ways we can be more sustainable. The children worked in teams to complete a range of activities and learned what they can do to help keep our planet healthy.

This week, Harith is the star of the week for the amazing improvements he has made on the legibility of his handwriting
