Attendance and Punctuality

ATTENDANCE

It is essential for your child to have outstanding attendance throughout the school year. Any absence affects the pattern of a child’s schooling and regular absence will seriously affect their learning potential. Pupils with poor attendance are more likely to make less progress at school.

Each year, we set a target for attendance. In 2016/2017 we have set our target to 96.3%.

We celebrate good attendance weekly in our assemblies.

Our Attendance Policy can be viewed on our Policies and Procedures page.

REPORTING YOUR CHILD’S ABSENCE

If your child is absent from school, please contact the school on 0207 607 4115 on the morning of each absence. You can leave a message, alternatively you can send an email to admin@robertblair.islington.sch.uk explaining your child’s absence. Where possible provide the office of a copy of letters for medical appointments (prior to leave).

Authorised absences are for reasonable reasons: illness, dental/medical appointments (which unavoidably fall in school time), and emergencies. It is at the school’s discretion to decide if the reason given is reasonable. Other absences will be recorded as unauthorised, including holidays taken during term time. If you feel that absence from school in term time is absolutely unavoidable, complete the Application for Leave of Absence in Term Time form and return it to the school office.
