Year 1
Welcome to Antarctica Class, Year 1. The adults in our class are Ms Michael and Ms Walls. This half term, our topic is The United Kingdom. We have been learning about all the different ways we can move from one place to another.
See what we have been up to:
We have been very busy studying the 4 countries of the United Kingdom, looking at flags, maps and geographical features.
We have started addition and subtraction within 20. Children are beginning to make links between related facts to find number bonds of 20.
In English, we have read the story ‘The Mousehole cat.’ Children have spent lots of time carefully considering descriptions of setting, incorporating interesting adjectives into their writing.
For DT we have designed and started making our own model buses. We selected resources such as carboard boxes and bottle caps, and experimented with mixing colours.
In science, we are learning about animals. Children are learning about the different animal groups: mammals, fish, birds, reptiles and amphibians. They are identifying key features and noticing similarities and differences. They have also been out bird watching, classifying and recording different species of bird!
